A Medal in Category 3 - Dedicated Service has been given to Architect Sherban G. Cantacuzino CBE FSA D.Univ (York) MA (Cantab) FRIBA from Romania. Sherban Cantacuzino has dedicated his life to architecture and heritage conservation in Europe and around the world. He has taught, published and helped shape national and European policies and programmes in the field of cultural en natural heritage protection. He held functions in a large number of committees in the United Kingdom and in several international organisations. After 1989, he focussed on Central and Eastern European countries and offered his experience to organise measures to safeguard the heritage in these countries. He initiated numerous projects, particularly in Croatia and Romania , where he is the Founder-President of Pro Patrimonio, the National Trust of Romania.
The career of Sherban Cantacuzino is valued for its outstanding contribution to the welfare of Europe 's cultural heritage. His continuous energy and dedication for the cause of historic buildings and environmental conservation in Romania is particularly admired.

Sherban Cantacuzino a voué sa vie à l’architecture et à la préservation du patrimoine en Europe et dans le monde entier. Il a enseigné, publié et contribué à l’élaboration de politiques et de programmes aux plans national et européen dans le domaine de la protection du patrimoine culturel et non bâti. Il a exercé des fonctions dans un grand nombre de comités au Royaume-Uni et dans plusieurs organisations internationales. Après 1989, il s’est consacré aux pays d’Europe centrale et de l’Est et a offert son expérience pour mettre en place des mesures visant à sauvegarder le patrimoine dans ces pays. Il a lancé de nombreux projets, tout particulièrement en Croatie et en Roumanie, où il est le président fondateur de Pro Patrimonio, la Caisse nationale des monuments historiques et des sites de Roumanie.
La carrière de Sherban Cantacuzino est admirée pour sa contribution exceptionnelle au bien-être du patrimoine culturel de l’Europe.
