CULTURAL HERITAGE: A RESOURCE FOR EUROPE. THE BENEFITS OF INTERACTION

The Immovable Heritage Policy Area of the Flemish Government organises, within the framework of the Belgian EU Presidency, the Conference: “Cultural heritage: a resource for Europe. The benefits of interaction" on 9 December 2010 in Bruges (Belgium), Site Oud Sint-Jan.
Moveable and immoveable heritage, such as museum collections, archives, built heritage, landscapes, archaeology, traditions and customs, often experience the influence of a wide range of European legislation. The challenge at hand is to gear that legislation to the specific needs of cultural heritage.
The conference aims to enhance support amongst European institutions for the sustainable management and conservation of cultural heritage. It wants to prioritise these issues on the political agenda and is looking for long-term solutions. Europa Nostra is pleased to be associated with the preparation of the Conference and EN representatives will take an active part in the conference debates.
