INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE EXCURSION

jun 02

Immediately after the General Assembly meeting, we proceed by bus – lunchbox will be provided – to Lisbon where we will visit both the famous  Aqueduto das Águas Livres and the nearby Museu da Água with the Barbadinhos Steam Pumping Station (1880).

From there, we continue by bus over the modern superlong Ponte Vasco da Gama bridge over the Tagus estuary to the Seixal Municipal Ecomuseum - the ancient blackpowder factory, in Vale de Milhaços (Corroios, Seixal).

From here, we take a ferry boat to Cais do Sodré located at the riverside embankment in Lisbon centre.

At Cais do Sodré Railway Station, we board a recently restored vintage carriage of the National Railway Museum. Late comers can board a regular train to Cascais. There, we shall join the other congress participants - who stayed in Mafra that afternoon - for the Closing Dinner at the Cascais Cidadela Palace.
