WORLD HERITAGE & ECONOMIC REGENERATION IN APRIL 2012

The World Heritage & Economic Regeneration event is a Joint RSA Fellows’ MCICH Network, Edinburgh World Heritage and City of Edinburgh Council event, to be delivered within the fully accessible RCPE. It is to mark the 40th Anniversary of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites Convention.

UNESCO has stated that “the main thrust of our 40th Anniversary UNESCO celebrations is placed upon the relations and synergy between Heritage and Development”. Regeneration and the economic issues surrounding heritage clearly chime with the RSA re community engagement, community development and social cohesion.  The event has support from the City of Edinburgh Council (Economic Development)

The two speakers are, alphabetically: Dr Ian Baxter FRSA, Director of Public and Professional Programmes, Institute of Continuing Education, University of Cambridge (since summer 2011) and James Rebanks, FRSA, Director and Head of Research, Rebanks Consulting Ltd: James Rebanks is a respected author and analyst on the economics of cultural and natural heritage.
