Training seminar for Social Media Volunteers for Heritage

The second seminar of the Social Media Volunteers for Heritage programme jointly organised by Europa Nostra and European Heritage Volunteers will take place from 10-15 September in Weimar, Germany.

Social Media Volunteers for Heritage is a participatory programme organised in the framework of Europa Nostra’s network project ‘Mainstreaming Heritage’ supported by the EU Creative Europe programme. It aims to further the cause and the message of the European heritage world through committed eyes and ears in many countries of the European Union and beyond. Social Media Volunteers for Heritage publish online stories, photos and videos on cultural heritage issues in their own country, share them on a variety of social media platforms, and follow the activities of their colleagues in other countries as well as of Europa Nostra and European Heritage Volunteers.

During the training seminars, the participants receive basic theoretical background about heritage and study different aspects and uses of heritage. They get to know different tools useful for reporting about heritage and are instructed concerning journalistic standards. They have the possibility to get to know each other, to introduce their specific interests in heritage and to share best practise examples.

The platform of Social Media Volunteers for Heritage is www.heritagetimes.eu, which is linked to various social media channels and other websites.
