The winners of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2002 were announced to the public at an event organised in the Palais d'Egmont in Brussels on 9 May 2003, Europe Day. Wynford Evans, Chairman of the Heritage Awards Jury, presented all the winning projects. Representatives of these projects received their awards from Viviane Reding, member of the European Commission responsible for Education and Culture and Otto von der Gablentz, Executive President of Europa Nostra.

For the meticulous and exemplary conservation of an authentic 18th century complex of wooden farmhouses which have been saved from total dereliction.

For the extraordinary preservation of a gem of modernist architecture and one of the most outstanding airport terminals from 1939.
Bishop's Fortress of Bertinoro, BERTINORO, ITALY
For the respectful restoration of an ancient fortress, rich in history and located in a panoramic setting, and for its adaptation to educational and residential functions.

Museo del Aceite, SAN FELICES DE LOS GALLEGOS, SPAIN
For the restoration of an ancient oil press with exquisite care and loyalty to traditional architectural techniques, and its conversion into a museum dedicated to olive oil.
