Luc FORNOVILLE, representing Belgium, 2005-2008

M. Fornoville graduated in Architecture from the Institut Supérieur d’Architecture St Luc (Brussels) in 1956. He gained a Master in Conservation and Restoration at the Hoger Instituut Architectuur St-Lucas (Ghent) in 1963.

Since 1956 he has run his own architectural practice, specializing in the restoration of numerous listed monuments, commercial and industrial buildings, offices, dwellings and social housing for private persons and public authorities. Amongst his most notable achievements in the field of restoration are the projects at the Priory of Corsendonk, at the Oud Gasthuis van Geel, at the fortified medieval castle of Bornem, at the Church of St Michael in Weelde Ravels, at the Castle of Westmalle, and at the Zoological Gardens of Antwerp, and at the 16th century mansions “Den Grroten Sot” and “Het Brantyser” which obtained a Europa Nostra Diploma in 2000. He has also been responsible for the extension and renovation of office buildings, as well as for projects of socio-cultural, religious and educational significance at schools and community centres.

He has been a member of the Provincial Committee for Monuments and Sites (Province of Antwerp) since 1970. From 1977-1982, he was a member of the municipal council of Berchem (Antwerp).
