SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL MEETS IN RHODES
oct 13
The 45th Europa Nostra Scientific Council Conference took place in the fortified medieval city of Rhodes (GR) from 9–14 October 2009. The theme of the conference was Management of the Monumental Environment and its Landmarks.
Executive President, Denis de Kergorlay, attended and took to opportunity, on behalf of the whole of Europa Nostra and its governing bodies, to recognise and praise the important work of the Scientific Council. The Scientific Council’s work, unmatched by any other European or academic institution, targets the heritage of Europe’s ancient military architecture and engineering, an aspect of heritage totally unique in Europe.
During the working sessions, it was agreed to significantly increase the Scientific Council’s involvement in Europa Nostra main activities, by providing the consultative and technical expertise in the fields of research, heritage at risk and policy recommendations. The Scientific Council will continue in its evaluation and judging of the Awards submissions for Category 2.
