Europa Nostra UK Meeting and Conference

Edinburgh, United Kingdom, 15 - 18 September 2007

Europa Nostra UK will be organising its Annual Meeting in Edinburgh in association with The Royal Society of Edinburgh and with the support of Historic Scotland and the National Trust for Scotland. A varied programme of visits, lectures and debates will centre on the theme “The Grand Tour and its influence on architecture, artistic taste & patronage”. After the Annual Meeting that will take place on Sunday 16 September, Sir Timothy Clifford FRSE, formerly Director General of the National Galleries of Scotland will deliver the 4th Annual Duncan-Sandys Lecture on “The Italian Grand Tour and its influence on art collecting in Britain”. This will be followed on Monday 17 September by a full day Conference held in association with The Royal Society of Edinburgh on “The Grand Tour and its influence on architecture, artistic taste & patronage”. Speakers will include Lord Cameron of Lochbroom FRSE (Chairman of the Conference), The Earl of Dalkeith KBE DL FRSE (President of the National Trust for Scotland), Nicola Kalinsky (Chief Curator, Scottish National Portrait Gallery), Dr Iain Gordon Brown FRSE (Principal Curator of Manuscripts, NLS), Professor Alistair Rowan FRSE (University College, Dublin), Dr John Stubbs (Columbia University & World Monuments Fund, New York), Professor Dr Wolfgang Broenner (Landesamt fur Denkmalpflege, Mainz, Germany), Dr Margaret Richardson (formerly Curator of the Sir John Soane Museum). The Conference will be concluded on Tuesday 18, with an escorted motor coach tour reflecting the conference themes to Newhailes, Penicuik House and Hopetoun House, with Professor David Walker, Dr Iain Gordon Brown and Dr Patricia Andrew. Europa Nostra Autumn Conference in conjunction with the European Heritage Days

Belgrade, Serbia, 19 - 22 September 2007

This year, Europa Nostra’s Autumn Conference in Belgrade is set to coincide with Europa Nostra’s Scientific Council Meeting and the European ceremony marking the 2007 edition of the EHDs. The week of meetings and events will start on 14 September with the XLIII Meeting of the Europa Nostra Scientific Council. Council members of Europa Nostra will be encouraged to participate in the meetings and excursions of the Scientific Council. On the 19th the meeting of the Management Committee will be followed by a meeting with Serbian heritage NGOs and a welcoming dinner. The Council meeting will take place on 20 September, while a programme of cultural visits will be organised for the accompanying persons. On 21 September, there will be a Colloquy on the achievements of the Regional Programme for cultural and natural heritage in South-East Europe organised in the context of the European Heritage Days), followed in the evening by the Open-air European ceremony marking the 2007 edition of the EHDs in the Belgrade Fortress. The meetings and ceremonies will be followed by a weekend of cultural excursions.

European Heritage Days (EHDs) - 2007 Annual meeting of the Group of Coordinators

The annual meeting of the Group of Coordinators of the European Heritage Days will take place in Sibiu , Romania, on 25 - 27 October 2007 in the framework of Sibiu - European Capital of Culture. This meeting is organised on the occasion of a workshop on "Communicating Cultural Heritage" which will be open to European specialists on Cultural Heritage.
