In its capacity as Liaison Office for the coordination of the European Heritage Days (EHDs), a joint action of the Council of Europe and the European Commission, Europa Nostra prepared an "Evaluation on the 2006 edition of the EHDs", an "Analysis on the visibility of the European dimension in the EHDs in participating countries" and a "Communication Strategy on the EHDs, at European and national level". All three reports were sent to the national coordinators of the EHDs and were discussed at the CDPAT (Steering Committee for Cultural Heritage) meeting in Strasbourg on 14 - 15 May 2007.

3000 km by foot to raise awareness about and funds for European Cultural Heritage

On 6 May, Paul Gardner, a young graduate from Oxford University with a Doctor of Philosophy in Archaeology, started out from Trafalgar Square , London , on his epic 3,000 km walk across the continent of Europe . He plans to arrive around 130 days later in Sultanahmet Square , Istanbul . This is not only a journey of discovery and an extraordinary personal adventure - taking him through ten countries, across the Bavarian and Austrian Alps and to some of the remotest corners of the Balkans - it is also a chance to share his passion for cultural heritage and historic monuments. You can follow his adventure, track his progress and share in his discoveries by visiting his weblog (see below) that records his journey. The walk is also a chance to promote European cultural heritage and to raise money to protect, conserve and present it to the widest possible audiences for present and future generations. Donating through the "justgiving" site (see below) is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor his initiative: Europa Nostra will receive the donations faster and, for UK taxpayers, an extra 28% in tax will be added to each gift.

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Rome, Renaud Donnedieu de Vabres, the French Minister for Culture, launched a new initiative to identify and highlight the European significance of buildings and sites and to communicate them to the wider public. In France , the first selected sites are: the abbey of Cluny , the first site to receive the "Label", the house of Robert Schuman in Scy-Chazelles and the Court of Honour of the Pope's Palace in Avignon .
