Heritage Solidarity Fellowship for Ukraine – Call for Applications

Joint initiative launched by Europa Nostra and Global Heritage Fund, in partnership with ALIPH and with the collaboration of the Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI) based in Kyiv

On International Museum Day, Europa Nostra and Global Heritage Fund, in partnership with ALIPH and with the vital collaboration of the Heritage Emergency Response Initiative (HERI), are launching the Heritage Solidarity Fellowship for Ukraine. The aim of this scheme is to provide much-needed support to heritage professionals in Ukraine who are currently facing hardships.

The first tranche of € 100,000 raised by our non-governmental organisations (€ 50,000 through the crowdfunding campaign jointly launched by Europa Nostra and the Global Heritage Fund and a matching contribution of € 50,000 provided by ALIPH) will be granted to cultural heritage professionals from museums, libraries, archives, and other cultural heritage institutions or sites, as well as to those individuals who have displayed professionalism and civic activism in protecting Ukraine’s cultural heritage during the war. The amount of the fellowship per person is € 500.

The criteria for the fellowship recipients include:

  • working in museums, libraries, archives, and other cultural heritage institutions or sites;
  • active contribution to the cultural heritage protection in times of war;
  • no salary or reduced salary due to the ongoing war; and
  • support will be provided in priority to heritage professionals living and working in especially hard conditions in active fighting area in Ukraine.

Applications for the first tranche of this fellowship scheme must be submitted by 1 June 2022 by filling out this online application form.

Legal entities (cultural heritage institutions or NGOs) and individuals are encouraged to submit names for candidates who are eligible to receive the fellowship by filling in the above-mentioned online application form. It is important that the candidates meet the above-mentioned criteria and that this is indicated in the application form through a brief motivation, which reveals the specific merits of the candidate.

The fellowship recipients will be selected by an advisory group, which consists of representatives of the founders and donors of the fellowship scheme, as well as other local or international initiatives to save endangered heritage in Ukraine.
