Europa Nostra 60th Anniversary General Assembly

Europa Nostra was founded on 29 November 1963 in Paris. For almost 60 years, we have celebrated, protected and advocated for cultural heritage. Covering over 40 countries, Europa Nostra is recognised as the largest and the most representative heritage network in Europe. It maintains close relations with the European Union, the Council of Europe, UNESCO and other international bodies.

Our mission

  • To give shape and voice to an ever-growing citizens’ movement to support cultural and natural heritage across Europe
  • To be forceful advocates of heritage – with its multiple benefits for our economy, society, culture and the environment – towards policy-makers at all levels of governance.
  • To promote best practices in the heritage field across Europe.
  • To campaign to save Europe’s most endangered heritage sites and support actions led by our member organisations.

Our Strategic Plan: Horizon 2025

Europa Nostra Strategic Plan: Horizon 2025 puts forward our goals and ambitions for the next four years. It was adopted by the Council of Europa Nostra at its meeting held in May 2022 in Krakow, Poland.

Our mission, vision and path for the future are articulated around 7 thematic goals and priorities, closely interconnected among them. For each one of these 7 goals, our Strategic Plan outlines the current state of play and puts forward an articulated vision of where we see ourselves in the future. In order to successfully deliver on these ambitions, our Strategic Plan identifies key actions, key partners and key resources for each of these 7 goals.
