The Work Package 2 of the network project Europa Nostra Heritage Agora (2025-2028), entitled Artists and Cultural Professionals, intends to facilitate the networking and exchanges of best practices in the heritage field, and in turn stimulate new policy action. It also aims at enhancing synergies between existing projects/programmes and creating new cooperation opportunities, with public and/or private partners.

The activities actively involve members of the Europa Nostra network (organisations and individuals) but also non-members (stakeholders, policy-makers and citizens at large, including harder-to-reach audiences) both within and beyond Europe.

European Cultural Heritage Summits

The European Cultural Heritage Summits are Europe’s top heritage “rendez-vous” gathering representatives from the large heritage community from across Europe and beyond. The Summits showcase heritage excellence, ignite key policy discussions and allow us to reflect on Europe’s shared heritage and values.

In a pivotal moment for culture at the European level, the European Cultural Heritage Summit 2025, held from 12 to 15 October in Brussels (Belgium), was the perfect occasion to highlight the political, societal, economic and environmental relevance of heritage for the future of Europe and its citizens, under the motto “Heritage Matters for Europe”.

The European Cultural Heritage Summit 2026 will be held on 27 to 30 May in Nicosia (Cyprus), in the framework of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The Nicosia Summit aims to highlight the key role of cultural heritage for building much-needed bridges and synergies between Europe and the Middle East and the wider area of the Mediterranean.

European Heritage Policy Agora Debates and Papers

The European Heritage Policy Agora Debates explore key heritage-related themes and policies at the European level. These debates are organised on a yearly basis, providing a platform to gather policy information from grassroots level which can in turn inform policy-makers. The debates are accompanied by the publication of policy documents which require in-depth research.

The European Heritage Policy Agora 2025, entitled “The Europeans: Shared Cultural Roots and Values”, held on 15 October at the European Parliament’s Zweig Visitor Centre in Brussels, highlighted the vital role of culture and history in shaping European identity and strengthening the European project.

The expected outcomes of this Work Package are the reinforcement and expansion of the policy and networking activities undertaken by Europa Nostra. The events serve as arenas of engagement where best practices are shared, new partnerships are created and policy analysis is conducted to inform decision-makers at all levels.
