In a statement issued on 9 January, Europa Nostra had called on the EU to step forward and reinforce organisations like ICCROM placed at risk by the U.S. withdrawal. ICCROM is a vital intergovernmental institution advancing cultural heritage conservation worldwide.
In the meantime, Europa Nostra applauded the recent announcement by the European Commissioner Glenn Micallef of an additional financial support for the READY Programme run by ICCROM and funded by the EU. For more information on the high-level meeting, which took place on 30 March at Villa Europa in Rome, see this link.
