European Heritage Awards Ceremony 2015
The winners of the European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards 2015 will be celebrated during a high-profile event at Oslo City Hall on the evening of 11 June. The European Heritage Awards Ceremony will be co-hosted by Fabian Stang, Mayor of Oslo, Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Plácido Domingo, the renowned opera singer and President of Europa Nostra, and will be honoured by the presence of HRH Crown Prince Haakon of Norway. During the ceremony, the seven Grand Prix laureates and the winner of the Public Choice Award, chosen from among this year’s winning projects, will be announced in front of an audience of 600 people. The entire event will be live streamed on the Europa Nostra YouTube channel.
The European Heritage Awards Ceremony will be attended by heritage professionals, volunteers and supporters from all over Europe as well as by high-level representatives from EU institutions, Member States and the host country, including the Minister of Climate and Environment Tine Sundtoft.
All the winners will receive a plaque or trophy. The seven Grand Prix laureates, selected by independent expert juries, will also receive €10,000 each. The winner of the Public Choice Award, chosen in an online poll conducted by Europa Nostra, will receive a certificate.
The European Heritage Awards Ceremony will be enhanced by a rich artistic and musical programme. The French collective G. Bistaki will greet and surprise guests with a creative performance, combining dance, different sound sources and physical elements, in the courtyard of Oslo City Hall. Norwegian musicians and ensembles, both young and renowned, will enchant the audience with their diverse interpretations during the award-giving ceremony.
A celebratory reception for all the participants hosted by the City of Oslo will follow the event.
The EU Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards is supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
G. Bistaki’s work is presented by Scenekunst Østfold, the Norwegian member of IN SITU, an European network for artistic creation in public space set up in 2003 and supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union since 2014. Arts Council Norway is the coordinating body of Creative Europe in Norway.
The Excellence Fair, during which the winners will present their outstanding achievements, will take place on the morning of the 11 June at the Domus Academica of Oslo University.
