Conference on Digitization of Cultural Heritage in Amsterdam

On 29 and 30 June 2016, during The Netherlands’ EU Presidency, the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture and Science will host “Ready to Reach Out”, an international conference on digital heritage.

Thanks to the commitment of many projects throughout Europe to the digitisation of its cultural heritage, millions of cultural objects are now available in a digital format. To increase the value of these digitally connected collections, the focus has now shifted from digitisation itself to the need for improved levels of cross-domain connectivity, multilingualism, data quality, rights-management and platform and audience development. This conference aims to give a platform to those projects and individuals who work towards finding solutions for these issues and who have explored what it is that can now be done with this digital heritage.

“Ready to Reach Out” will be opened by Minister for Education, Culture and Science, Jet Bussemaker and will be followed by two full days of key note speeches, plenary discussions and working visits to Amsterdam’s museums. Participants will have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of topics regarding digital heritage with a mixed audience of heritage experts, national policy officers, representatives from archives and heritage institutions, as well as professionals from the tourism and education sector and academics.

The conference will take place in the Europe Building in Amsterdam’s historic centre. For more information and to register please visit www.tinyurl.com/digitalheritage2016/.
