Cultural Deal for Europe Annual Policy Conversation 2026

The European Cultural Foundation (ECF), Culture Action Europe (CAE) and Europa Nostra are organising the Cultural Deal for Europe Annual Policy Conversation 2026 on 3 February (15:00 – 17:30 CET) at Bozar – Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels, Belgium. High-level EU policymakers and representatives from the culture, cultural heritage and civil society sectors will discuss current and upcoming policy challenges and opportunities and together shape the sector’s advocacy agenda for the years ahead.

The year 2026 will be important for the negotiations on the EU long-term budget (MFF 2028-2034), EU strategic priorities and implementation of the EU’s new strategic framework for culture – the Culture Compass for Europe.

Together with Glenn Micallef, European Commissioner for Intergenerational Fairness, Culture, Youth and Sport, Nela Riehl, Member of the European Parliament and Chair of the Committee on Culture and Education, and other high-level policymakers, we will discuss:

  • What must be done to secure a strong culture and cultural heritage provision in the next EU budget, a well resourced AgoraEU programme (culture, media, rights and values) and a powerful civil society dimension?
  • How will the Culture Compass for Europe address key European challenges through culture and unleash its greater potential for the Europeans?  How can the wider civil society ecosystem best reinforce our democratic values?

Following an enthusiastic response, registration is now closed. A video recording will be made available online after the event for those unable to attend in Brussels.

Europa Nostra’s contribution to this event takes place under the framework of the network project Europa Nostra Heritage Agora (2025-2028), co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
