Europa Nostra UK Annual Meeting
The theme for the Europa Nostra UK Annual Conference is European Heritage Spa Towns. It will take place in the City of Bath UNESCO World Heritage Site. The venues for the Duncan-Sandys Lecture and Day-Conference are the Ballroom and Octagon in the Assembly Rooms and the Roman Baths for the Conference Dinner.
Although the final programme and registration form cannot yet be presented, it is our intention that the Meeting will follow the usual pattern, viz:
12th: Welcome those who will be travelling longer distances to be with us
13th: Morning: tour of Bath
Then the usual main part of the meeting:
13th Afternoon: AGM plus Duncan-Sandys Lecture and Reception (in the Ballroom and Octagon of the Assembly Rooms)
14th: One-day conference about European heritage spa towns (Ballroom again or Tea Room), followed by the Conference Dinner (in the Roman Baths!)
And finally:
15th ‘Outing’, finishing late afternoon – the formal end, but some may wish to stay the night – or longer to enjoy other historic sites or the landscape of the region.
I have already received much interest from members, and I would encourage those wishing to participate to consider reserving accommodation early and let me know soon as possible if they would like to have the opportunity to stay at Bath University (modern student) accommodation with private facilities (which is slightly out of the centre, though well-connected by bus and taxi). The University has many single rooms but only few twin rooms. At the other end of the spectrum is the Queensberry Hotel, which is only a short walking distance from the Assembly Room. Other hotels (of which there are many) include the Royal Crescent Hotel, Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, the Abbey Hotel and the Pulteney Guest House.
Our partners for the Meeting will be the City of Bath UNESCO World Heritage Site and the EHTTA (European Historic Thermal Towns Association). We are grateful to our sponsors, the Leventis Foundation, for their generous support.
As usual, we welcome members of other heritage organisations to join us and invite those of our own members familiar with other such groups to spread the word.
We look forward to your participation.

P.S. …and for those with the fullest diaries: we plan that the Annual Meeting 2018 will take place in Oxford in the week beginning 17th September!
