Europe Lecture on “Protecting Cultural Heritage in Times of Conflict” by Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO

On 13 June, Ms Irina Bokova, Director General of UNESCO will deliver at the Kloosterkerk in The Hague this year’s Europe Lecture on the theme “Protecting cultural heritage in times of conflict”.

The Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, will share with a wide audience of ca. 400 people her views on the many threats to cultural heritage in times of conflict, and will highlight UNESCO’s most recent strategies and actions to respond to cultural cleansing, the deliberate destruction of culture and the illicit trafficking of cultural property, which is linked to the financing of terrorism.

This lecture is organised by the Europe Lecture Foundation in cooperation with EUROPA NOSTRA, the Voice of Cultural Heritage in Europe, in conjunction with the Dutch Presidency of the European Union.
