“Innovation and Cultural Heritage” – High-level Horizon 2020 conference
The “Innovation and Cultural Heritage” high-level Horizon 2020 conference will be held on 20 March in the Royal Museum of Arts and History in Brussels. This important event is organised by the European Commission Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, in close cooperation with the Directorate-General for Education and Culture for Communications Networks, Content and Technology– as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage.
The conference will be showcasing the dialogue between contemporary European society and the most promising innovations in the field of cultural heritage that European policies and funds have supported. The speakers – leading European politicians, museum curators and scientists – will be discussing policy developments, success stories and future challenges during several policy round-tables and scientific sessions.
Zoltán Krasznai, Director, European Commission, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation will be providing the opening of the event. Commissioners Tibor Navracsics of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Carlos Moedas of Research, Science and Innovation and Mariya Gabriel of Digital Economy and Society will be amongst the many high-level panelists.
The event consists of two policy round-tables and three scientific sessions, each discussing different, current themes. During the two policy round-tables, the topics: “European Policies for Cultural Heritage” and “The Future of European Cultural Heritage” will be discussed. Subsequently, three scientific sessions will take place to examine the topics: “Cultural Heritage beyond Borders”, “New Partnerships for Cultural Heritage” and “Cultural Heritage in the Digital Age”.
The conference will also mark the beginning of the public discussion about the objectives of European research and innovation for policy for cultural heritage beyond 2020.
