Online event “Putting Cultural Heritage at the Centre of the European Green Deal: A preview of the European Heritage Green Paper”
This online event is organised by the Climate Heritage Network, in partnership with Europa Nostra and ICOMOS and with the support of the European Investment Bank Institute on 19 November 2020 from 11.30 to 13.00 hours (CET). It takes place as part of the rich programme marking the “Climate Heritage Week” from 16 to 22 November. The event will give a preview of the European Heritage Green Paper that Europa Nostra and ICOMOS are currently finalising. The Green Paper is designed to lay out the power of cultural heritage to contribute to achieving the ambitions of the European Green Deal and to mobilise the heritage community to realise that potential. It offers a template for transformative climate action by the cultural heritage sector around the world.
A reflection on the Green Paper project will be offered by Gijs de Vries, senior visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Reactions will also be presented on behalf of EU Institutions including Francisco de Paula Coelho, Dean at the European Investment Bank Institute. The webinar will include presentations by Sneška Quaedvlieg – Mihailovic, Secretary General of Europa Nostra, Andrew Potts, ICOMOS, and a Q&A session with the experts that contributed to the European Heritage Green Paper project: Antonia Gravagnulo, National Research Council of Italy, Keith Jones (The National Trust), Dr Johanna Leissner, Fraunhofer Sustainability Networks, Valeria Marcolin Creative Mobilities Alliance, Ian Lumley, An Taisce-The National Trust for Ireland and Jermina Stanojev, Independent Expert.
