Winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2021 to be announced on 25 May

The winners of the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards 2021 will be announced on 25 May (11:00-12:00 CET) at an online event hosted by Mariya Gabriel, European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, and Hermann Parzinger, Executive President of Europa Nostra. 24 exemplary heritage achievements from 18 countries across the continent will be celebrated with Europe’s top honour in the field. The Awards are supported by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.

The Award winners were selected by independent juries composed of heritage experts from all over Europe, upon evaluation of candidatures submitted by organisations and individuals from 30 European countries. The meetings of the Heritage Awards Juries to choose this year’s winners were held online in January and February 2021.

Heritage enthusiasts from across the world will be invited to vote for their favourite initiatives from among the winners via an online poll on Europa Nostra’s website. The voting for the much sought after Public Choice Award will run from 25 May to 15 September. We hope all of you will participate and help us get as many votes as possible! The project The Ambulance for Monuments (Romania) won the Public Choice Award 2020.

The Public Choice Award winner will be announced during the European Heritage Awards Ceremony, which will take place in the autumn of this year. The Grand Prix laureates, each of whom will receive a monetary award of €10,000, will also be made public on this occasion.

In 2021, two ILUCIDARE Special Prizes will also be awarded from among the submitted applications to the European Heritage Awards / Europa Nostra Awards. The shortlisted projects will be announced on 10 June and the winners will be unveiled at the European Heritage Awards Ceremony. ILUCIDARE is funded by Horizon 2020 with the aim of establishing an international network promoting heritage as a resource for innovation and international relations.
