Heritage in Motion magazine: Norway special
Europa Nostra has published a new issue of its Heritage in Motion magazine entirely dedicated to Norway, the host country of the European Heritage Congress 2015.
This special edition takes us on a discovery tour of the rich heritage of Norway – from a skillfully restored wooden farmhouse near Vågå to the prehistoric rock art of Alta, and from the breathtakingly beautiful Nærøyfjord to the amazing Urnes stave church. It shows how important tangible and intangible heritage is for local communities in Norway, and what pride and joy it brings to people’s everyday lives. Finally, it spotlights various subjects related to ‘Youth & Heritage’.
The magazine features exclusive interviews with leading players in the culture and heritage fields: Tibor Navracsics, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, shares his ideas and plans to support cultural heritage in Europe; Vidar Helgesen, Norwegian Minister for the European Economic Area (EEA) and EU Affairs, conveys his vision of the EEA and Norway Grants as a tool to boost economic development and foster social cohesion; and Irina Bokova, UNESCO Director General, talks about the #Unite4Heritage campaign launched under her leadership in the year when UNESCO celebrates its 70th anniversary.
The production of this Norway Special was made possible thanks to the invaluable input of Europa Nostra Norway and Fortidsminneforeningen – the Society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments; and to the financial contributions of the European Union, through its Creative Europe programme; the EEA & Norway Grants provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through the EFTA’s Financial Mechanism Office; and UNESCO, through the Norwegian National Commission.
