INTO AND EUROPA NOSTRA CONTINUE THEIR COLLABORATION

jul 09

The partnership between the international National Trusts INTO and Europa Nostra continues. This year again Simon Molesworth, chairman of the executive board of INTO, travelled from Australia to participate to the European Heritage Congress organised by Europa Nostra and Centro Nacional de Cultura in Lisbon. As a speaker at the Europa Nostra Forum Saving Europe's Endangered Hertiage, Simon Molesworth made a comparative analysis of the heritage at risk programmes of the National Trust for Historic Preservation in the US and the Australian Council of National Trusts in Australia.

INTO is an international network of National Trusts and similar non governmental organisations, globally diverse but united by a shared commitment to conserving and sustaining shared heritage – built and natural, tangible and intangible. In 2011 they adopted the Victoria Declaration on the Implications for Cultural Sustainability of Climate Change to raise awareness of the impact of climate change on cultural heritage and social sustainability. The Europa Nostra Council subsequently endorsed the Victoria Declaration.

Oliver Maurice, director of INTO, also visited the International Secretariat in May to discuss ways to further strengthen collaboration between INTO and Europa Nostra.
